The Senior HR Operations Manager serves as the operational owner of payroll execution, HR systems administration, and HR compliance operations. This role ensures accurate, compliant, and scalable HR infrastructure while partnering closely with the HR Manager to support employee lifecycle operations.
 
This is a highly hands-on role focused on execution, system ownership, and process optimization.

Responsibilities

Payroll & Tax Administration (Primary Function)
  • Own weekly and bi-weekly payroll processing across multiple states.
  • Manage payroll tax setup, filings coordination, and issue resolution.
  • Serve as primary liaison with Paylocity and external payroll partners.
  • Conduct payroll audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
HRIS Ownership & Optimization
  • Maintain and optimize HRIS configuration.
  • Ensure data integrity and reporting accuracy.
  • Identify workflow automation opportunities.
Compliance and Reporting Operations
  • Coordinate HR compliance activities and annual filings.
  • Maintain documentation for audits and diligence.
  • Track regulatory requirements across operating states.
Collaboration
  • Partner with HR Manager on onboarding and employee lifecycle workflows.
  • Provide operational HR data and reporting support to leadership.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Communications, Business, or related degree
  • 6-8+ years of payroll or HR experience
  • SHRM-CP or PHR credentials are preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Multi-state payroll experience required.
  • Demonstrated expertise in multi-state employment compliance, with strong California knowledge required
  • Paylocity experience strongly preferred
  • Healthcare or multi-site industry experience preferred
  • Ability to work effectively in high-stress and fast-paced situations
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Strong ethical standards and the ability to maintain confidentiality
